Winter Mood Board

If you read my Fall Inspo post back in September, you’ll remember that I openly admitted that I am indeed NOT a fan of Fall/cooler temps. Aside from college football and my annual apple fritter, I have no care for the cozy-sweater hype. And as you can imagine, I’m not one for winter either; with the exception of the holidays. Who doesn’t love Christmas music playing, cookies baking, and twinkling lights at night?! Once January 1st hits though, you can fully expect my house to be back to normal, and I’m already dreaming of Spring Break. (Confession: I actually took all of my Christmas decor down on December 26th this year… sorry not sorry.)

My goal for my Fall Mood Board was to encourage others that Fall doesn’t always have to be rustic. With my Winter Mood Board, I want to encourage you and others that Winter doesn’t always have to be holiday inspired with green and red. Now if a Christmas wedding is your thing, have at it! Thankfully the color hunter green is very on trend right now, making your vision easy and cohesive. But if you’re not wanting a Hallmark Movie themed wedding, or looking to decorate your house during the winter months after December…I’m here to tell you that you can! (All while avoiding deep reds and pine tree green.)

Just this past December, the Pantone Color of the Year was announced; which I’m thrilled about because I had already started pinning all the BLUE inspo on my pinterest board. Of course there are about 645 different shades of blue, but nothing says a calm winter, and fresh/crisp start to the year like a dusty blue. Now I’m only showing a few “blue themed” photos above, for the sake of variety, but I encourage you to hop on Pinterest for some more of that fresh winter inspiration!

I’ve told my brides more than once, “Dusty Blue is the brother to Blush Pink.” It can work in all seasons, but it’s exceptionally beautiful in the winter, keeping things soft and bridal, without screaming holidays. Think crisp snow!

If you are into more moodier, darker colors though, merlot, burgundy, and berry tones will always be classics. You can’t go wrong with dark, rich colors, and adding textures; like bare branches and sparse greenery. The touches of cranberries in your florals or on your cake are gorgeous too.

Speaking of textures… velvet, satin, and sparkle are a winter DREAM! Dare I say more?! Whether you’re a bridesmaid, a guest, or looking to add some depth to your home decor; a satin/velvet dress is classic, and will also keep you warm. Or a velvet/fur throw blanket on the couch is the perfect touch of cozy.

If you’re a bride not into velvet or satin, don’t be nervous to put you or your girls in sleeves. Throw a fur bolero on top of it all and you will look like you belong in a snow globe! Some of the photos above are just so swoon worthy <3

My #1 tip for winter is to think outside of the box (from the holidays), and get creative. If moody is your vibe; stick to rich textures, colors, and lighting. If you are more like me and ready for a fresh start; less is more, yes even in the winter! Crisp blues, subtle sparkle, or fresh greenery is ALWAYS a good idea. I’d love to hear YOUR winter inspo, below! Feel free to leave some love! XOXO,
