Another Q&A with a real life bride… and she’s my favorite one yet <3 Sidney and her husband Brad are celebrating their one year anniversary TODAY! I’ve been besties with Sid long before her wedding day though. Not only have we been friends for over 20 years, but, I actually had the honor of standing as her Matron of Honor on the couple’s perfect October day.
Sidney is truly a one-of-a-kind friend, and I’m tempted to rewrite my entire toast just so everyone knows how wonderful she really is. I’ll spare you all… but I hope I never forget the moments celebrating someone I love so much. We’ve been through it all, but seeing her get married to the man of her dreams is by far my favorite memory yet.
Let’s start with the basics!
Date: October 19, 2019
Venue: The Steam Plant (Dayton brides, this venue is STUNNING!)
Photographer: Liv Detamore Photography
Florals: The Flowerman
I snapped these on my phone the Thursday before Sidney’s wedding. Dayton brides, book The Flowerman as your florist and have the unique experience of creating your own bouquets with your besties. Such a fun way to kick off your wedding weekend!
Dress Designer: Essence of Australia
Shoes: Nina (The Elenora Sandal)
Accessories: “I LITERALLY forgot all my accessories at home the day of. Luckily I had such a great bridal party, and they came prepared. Kelly loaned me a beautiful diamond tennis bracelet that she wore for her wedding, and my cousin Alyssa gave me some pretty dangle earrings to wear.”
Can we say HAIR GOALS?!

Details…
Q: How did Brad propose? How long was your engagement?
Brad proposed to me while on our trip in Las Vegas (2018). We visited the Grand Canyon while we were there and that’s where he popped the question! He got some random lady to take our “pictureâ€, and that’s when he got on one knee. We were engaged for about a year in a half before we got married.
Q: Your go-to stress reliever while planning?
I don’t deal with stress very well, but one thing that helped me the most was when I would just get in the car and go for a drive. There’s something about turning on some music and rolling the windows down that helped me a lot. I did this pretty often.
Q: Favorite memory from your wedding day? (If you can pick just one!)
I had a lot of awesome memories from my wedding but my favorite was when I got to see Brad for the first time, walking down the aisle. I had spent so much of the day away from him that by the time my dad came to get me to walk down the aisle, I was ready! I’ll never forget the first time I saw him, he was bawling and I felt so lucky he was going to be my husband.
Q: Did you get gifts for your bridesmaids? If so, what?
I did get all my bridesmaids robes to wear the day of while we were getting ready. I had seen many people do this before, and I loved how the photos of the bridal party looked when they were getting ready so I knew I had to do this.
Q: First dance song?
Beautiful Crazy by Luke Combs
Q: Favorite part of the planning process?
My favorite part was probably the cake tasting and choosing our food vendor. We had a really great experience with both the vendors we chose and they were both so easy to work with. Oh and of course dress shopping was so fun as well!
Q: Where did you honeymoon?
St. James Club in Antigua
Q: If you could do it all over again, is there anything you would change?
I wouldn’t change anything, but I really wish I could relive it again <3
Q: Last piece of advice for brides:
Do exactly what you want to do. Follow your heart and make choices based on what is important to you and your fiance. This is your special day!
Friends come and go, but I count my blessings everyday that this girl has never left my side. Brad and Sidney are perfect for each other in every way. And how lucky am I to be able to witness that first-hand?! It’s been so fun looking back at these pictures a year ago, but even better knowing this is just the beginning. I can’t wait to see these two grow together. I love you, Sid! XOXO <3
